Doug Feeney specializes in incorporating woodcarved decoration into the furniture and accessories he builds at his small shop in Orange. Working with native hardwoods, Doug builds home accessories such as breadboards, sconces, mirrors, and small shelf units. He decorates each of his pieces by hand with carving tools, taking his inspiration from traditional rural designs, and incorporating the influence of his mentor in Italy. He also builds small pieces of furniture and hope chests.

Although he had worked with wood for years and built his own beautiful house in Orange almost twenty years ago, Doug got serious about woodcarving six years ago when he spent a year in Sardinia with his family. He became an apprentice to a Sardinian craftsman and learned to incorporate the Sardinian style of decoration into his work. When he returned to the North Quabbin, he blended this influence with traditional American styles to come up with his own distinctive decorative style.

Doug enjoys replicating traditional pieces and styles of furniture, and is willing to do straight reproductions. He also enjoys finding creative ways to incorporate elements of his traditional style into new designs that match the visions of his clients.
