Lucy Fagella has a B.F.A. degree from Alfred University. While at Alfred her concentration was in Ceramic Art with a minor in Art Education. Upon graduation she became a full time potter and sold her work in gallery/shops in the N.Y.C. area. Within the next year Lucy began teaching pottery at the adult education level. Liking it a great deal she decided to teach art full time at the High School level.
In 1993 Lucy moved to Western Massachusetts. The beauty of the natural surroundings and the many artists throughout this region drew her to this area. Lucy has been working as a full time potter once again since 2002 and is becoming a well known Massachusetts artisan. She taught at the Guild Studio school from 1993 until 2005, and taught at the Amherst Community Art Center from 2004 until their closing earlier this year.
Lucy also offers classes and workshops from her studio. Her work can be seen locally and nationally at galleries and shops and from her studio in Greenfield MA. She has been recognized on the national level in 2004 winning a juror's choice award in the, “Strictly Functional Pottery National”. In 2005 her work was published in “500 Cups Explorations in Utility & Grace” (Lark Publications) and in 2006 she was published in “500 Pitchers, Contemporary Expressions of a Classic Form” (Lark Publications).
