Linda Ruel Flynn is a self-taught fiber artist who originally studied painting at Syracuse University. She makes art quilts that are mounted on wooden frames, creating three dimensional pieces with great appeal.

Linda's work is born out of sheer play with fabric. She's been at it for five years now and she is still inspired by fabrics, and the experience of cutting and pasting fabrics together. She loves playing with the layout of fabric pieces, the layering, the stitching, and finding new ways to express whimsy, joy, and play.

Linda works in cotton fabric, batting and thread. She alters commercial and hand-dyed fabrics with paint, bleach and thread to create a fabric that is more of her statement rather than the fabric designer’s statement. Linda also seeks to recycle as much fabric from other projects as possible. She employs traditional and non-traditional quilting techniques with contemporary designs to create these quilts of fun.

Linda is originally from Ashburnham, and has lived in the North Quabbin region for 17 years. She especially loves the quiet, the hills and water, and the stargazing our scenic region provides. In addition to North Quabbin Woods, you can find her works at Handworks Gallery in Acton and at the annual Garlic & Arts Festival in Orange.
